The Swindon Dementia Action Alliance
The Swindon Dementia Action Alliance (SDAA) was formed in 2014 and is our community response to help make Swindon more dementia friendly.
Local people living with dementia have told us they want a community that supports them to:
Find their way around and feel safe, but not embarrassed.
Carry on doing the same things they have always done – like going to the shops, getting on a bus, using a library or theatre, playing sport, or just sitting in the park.
Keep in touch and feel they are still part of the community.
SDAA Priorities:
Ongoing and meaningful dialogue with people living with dementia and carers.
Improving access to dementia friendly activities.
Improving access to local services.
Engagement with, and provide awareness sessions for local businesses and groups to become ‘dementia aware’.
Improving the awareness of Emergency Services to the needs of people living with dementia.
Regular events raising awareness of local support available, and celebration of the local dementia community.

The Chair of the Swindon Dementia Action Alliance is Oli Webb, Creative Learning Manager at the Wyvern Theatre and Arts Centre.
